On Sunday, 23 June, at 5:30 PM, the Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteers Party (Jatiotabadi Swechchasebok Dal), Australia Chapter, held an introduction meeting and Eid reunion with the newly formed convening committee at the Lakemba Library Hall in Sydney. The program was presided over by Mr. Mashiur Rahman Tuhin, Convener of the Australia Chapter, and conducted by Mr. Zahidur Rahman, Member Secretary.
The event began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Mr. Wares Mahmud, Joint Convener of the Swechchasebok Dal. The welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Mohammad Omi Ferdous, International Affairs Secretary (Joint Secretary rank) of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteers Party (Jatiotabadi Swechchasebok Dal).
The Chief Guest, Mr. S.M. Jilani, President of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteers Party (Jatiotabadi Swechchasebok Dal), said in his address: “The greatest success of the BNP is that we have exposed the Awami League both at home and abroad. It may appear temporarily that we have not achieved our goals, but the reality is very different.”
The Keynote Speaker, Mr. Yasin Ali, Senior Vice President of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteers Party (Swechchasebok Dal), said: “Our leader and mother of democracy, Begum Khaleda Zia, is critically ill, yet the fascist Awami regime is denying her proper medical treatment. We must raise public awareness and international opinion regarding this injustice.”
Special Guest Mr. Nazmul Hasan, Organising Secretary of the Central Committee, also attended the program.
The Invited Guest, Mr. Mohammad Rashedul Haque, International Affairs Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee, wished success to the newly formed committee and urged central leaders to soon form a full-fledged committee to make the Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteers Party in Australia a strong and active organisation. He also called upon everyone to pray for the recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Other distinguished attendees included Mr. Mohammad Haydar Ali, General Secretary of BNP Australia; Mr. Ashraful Islam; Dr. Shahjahan Ali; Mr. Yasir Arafat Shobuj; Ms. Khadija Zaman Rupom; Mr. Jahangir Alam (Jubo Dal Leader); and Joint Conveners Mr. Khaja Daud Hossain, Mr. Ahsan Habib, Mr. Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman Labu, Mr. Motaher Hossain, Mr. Moshiul Azam Bappy, Mr. Murad Hossain, Mr. Mobarak Hossain, Mr. Abdur Rahim, Mr. Russell Ahmed, Mr. Mithu Bepari, and student leader Shariful Islam Shibli, among others.
The program concluded with a special prayer (Munajat) seeking good health and long life for former Prime Minister and Mother of Democracy, Begum Khaleda Zia. The prayer was led by Mr. Zahidur Rahman, Member Secretary of the newly formed committee.
Finally, the newly appointed committee members were greeted with floral bouquets, marking the start of their new journey in strengthening the organisation in Australia.
