On Sunday, 1 September 2024, at 6:00 PM, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Australia Chapter organized a program marking the 46th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), along with a fundraising initiative for flood victims and a special prayer (Doa) gathering. The event took place at the Lakemba Library Auditorium in Sydney, Australia.
The meeting was presided over by Mr. A.F.M. Towhidul Islam, President of BNP Australia, and conducted by Mr. Mohammad Haider Ali, General Secretary.
The Chief Guest, Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Joint Secretary General of the BNP National Executive Committee and Member Secretary of the BNP Relief Collection Committee, addressed the event virtually from Bangladesh.
Special Guest Mr. Mohammad Rashedul Haque, International Affairs Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee, could not deliver his speech due to illness.
Another Special Guest, Mr. Mohammad Aumi Ferdous, International Affairs Secretary (Joint Secretary rank) of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Swechchasebok Dal, also addressed the gathering.
A welcome speech was delivered by Professor Dr. Moniruzzaman.
The program began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and prayers led by Mr. K.M. Manjurul Haque Alamgir, Treasurer of BNP Australia and former professor.
The national anthem and party anthem were then performed by JASAS Australia leader Ms. Azizun Nahar Mala and her team.

Leaders and activists from BNP, Bangladesh Nationalist Youth Party, Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteers Party, and other affiliated organisations attended the event in person, while many others joined virtually from various states.
In his remarks, General Secretary Mohammad Haydar Ali made a special appeal for financial contributions to assist the flood victims. With the help of Jubo Dal leader Shariful Islam Shibli and Mr. K.M. Manjurul Haque, cash donations and pledges were collected from attendees during the program. He also expressed regret that due to time constraints, some Sydney-based leaders could not be given the opportunity to speak.
In his closing remarks, President A.F.M. Towhidul Islam thanked all the leaders and participants, stating: “It is through the tireless efforts of all our subcommittee members that today’s beautiful prayer gathering became possible. Any shortcomings are mine, but all the credit for success belongs to you.”
He then invited everyone to join the dinner session, officially concluding the event with prayers for the flood victims and the progress of Bangladesh.
