On December 31, 2023, at 6 PM, in Lakemba, a Bangladeshi-populated area of Sydney, a leaflet distribution event was held in support of the dummy vote boycott and the non-cooperation movement under the leadership of Mohammad Omi Ferdous, Joint Secretary (International Affairs) of the Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteers Association. The program was attended by Mohammad Rashedul Haque, Assistant Secretary of International Affairs of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Other attendees included leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Australia branch: AFM Tawhidul Islam, Md. Haydar Ali, Ashraful Alam Rony, Md. K M Manjurul Haque, Mubarak Hossain, Ashraful Islam, Faizur Rahman Chowdhury, Golam Faruki Nadim, Khadija Zaman Rupom, and members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Youth Party, Australia branch: Jahangir Alam, Md Mofijal Islam Sagar, Mamun Bala, Fakhrul Munna, along with numerous other leaders.
Among the leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)’s voluntary wing Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Shecchashebok Dal, Australia branch, were Mashiur Rahman Tuhin, Jahidur Rahman, Khaja Dawood Hossain, and Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, accompanied by a large number of activists.
During the leaflet distribution among the large crowd, the leaders urged them to ensure that on January 7th, their relatives and neighbors abstain from voting in the dummy election. They encouraged the public to stand against this autocratic and illegitimate election and spend the day with their families instead of participating in the vote.
